Monday Night Jazz/Folk Series: Amanda Holmes, Nov. 23

“Lets just say that I’m never gonna go up on stage and talk bout my ‘humps,’ I’m not the type to sing bout ‘my goodies.’ I’m about singin’ from experiences, heartbreak and life, things that inspire me and hopefully touch whoever listens.”

Amanda Holmes will be playing with Jack Kovacs on guitar Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Kerckhoff Coffee House for Cultural Affairs Commission’s Monday Night Jazz Series. When asked to describe her music, Amanda replied that it is: “A soulful blend of heartfelt pop, with a rocker’s edge.” She released her first album as a senior in high school, having spent three years producing and writing. She also co-produced and stared in two professionally shot music videos, one of which won Best Music Video Concept of the year, for the LA Music Awards. Her latest album is a throw back to Motown, in the same vein as Amy Winehouse, Duffy, and Adele. The lyrics of this album are basically a renewed appreciation for life: “Love it for what its worth.”
